Registered Angus Cattle

Cattle are raised in all 67 counties in Alabama and since 2010 we have carried on that tradition.

In 2010 Ken and Garrett traveled to Cullman, Alabama and purchased a few head of registered Angus cows at the Alabama Angus Association Sale.

While our herd size hasn't grown over the years, we are committed to raising docile, low birth weight and top gaining calves for commerical producers.

We chose Angus cattle because of the quality of the value the market has for Angus cattle, top-tier genetics the American Angus Association works to maintain and because of the high standard consumers place on the Angus brand.

What We Breed For

using EPDs to ensure quality genetics
1. Docility

Because we are a small operation it is important that the cows we breed are easy to handle.

  • We select sires that rank in the top 10 percent in docility.
  • Breeding for docility is important because producers want cattle that are easy to handle.
2. Calving Ease

Breeding claves for low-birth weight is important because we want to our cows to require as little asistance during calving as possible.

  • We select sires that rank in the top 25 percent for birth weight.
  • We breed for lower birth weights because the higher the birth weight the greater the chance of calving difficulty.
3. Scrotal Circumfrance

Scrotal circumfrance is an important indicator of a bull's fertility.

  • We select sires that are in the top 10 percent for scrotal circumfrance.
  • Scrotal circumfrance is an indicator in sire and dam fertility.
4. $Beef Value

$Value indexes are multi-trait selection indexes, expressed in dollars per head, to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions.

  • We select sires in the top 10 percent of $Beef EPDs.
  • $B are an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform.
